At A Slug's Pace (JULY 4, 2015)

Zubiri to Zurain July 4, 2015, 18881 Steps, 12.21 km, 67 floors.
Woke up, stretched, ate breakfast with new and old friends, and hit the trail. The days have been hot here. It's been between 95 and 102 every day except the second day when we hit Roncevalles. It doesn't look like it's going to cool off much anytime soon. We weren't sure where we would stop today, but when we hit Zurain and a lovely little albergue by a river; we decided it was time to stop. The Camino was a lovely rolling trail with forests and shade for about half the time. We saw two waterfalls, horses, and a couple of slugs. We joked about one of the slugs beating us up the hill.
After we checked into the Albergue, showered, and ate; we had a little snooze. After our nap went down to the river to soak our tired muscles.
Leea soaking in the river
It's been a relaxing day. However, we both agreed we don't want to relax this much anytime soon. Tomorrow we head for Pamplona. We hope to get through there before the madness of the running of the bulls. Some of our friends are slowing down so the can join the craziness. It sounds like an enormous drunken brawl. Bars in Spain can remain open all night. Some friends who went through Pamplona in the morning during San Fermin said there were bulldozers shoveling up the trash and drunks all over the place. Sounds like it would have been a good time about thirty-five years ago. lol
Leea is a trooper and we are having a lot of laughs. It is different walking with another person. But just as good, and in some ways better. Hope you all have a safe and sane Fourth of July.
